Steward's Report
Bill I Am and Explosive Gas were quick to begin. Connor's Rocket was slow to begin. Fearless John, Noosa Rocket, Connor's Rocket, Justa Beam and Lektra Pebbles collided soon after the start checking Noosa Rocket, Connor's Rocket and Lektra Pebbles, and severely checking Justa Beam. Flying Do Do, Connor's Rocket and Lektra Pebbles collided on the first turn severely checking Connor's Rocket and Lektra Pebbles. Bill I Am and Explosive Gas collided approaching the home turn causing Explosive Gas to fall. Justa Beam pulled up approaching the home turn and tailed off.
Explosive Gas was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the right monkey muscle and right thigh muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mrs.D.Sturgess, the trainer of the greyhound Justa Beam. Justa Beam was vetted and after being re-vetted following event six, it was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the left and right thigh muscles, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Justa Beam with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury) and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
