Steward's Report
Mahogany Spirit, Athletica and Arrow Head were slow to begin.
Tina Two crossed to the rail soon after the start checking Cooly Queen and Vapour King. Cooly Queen and Athletica collided on the second turn. Athletica eased in the home straight and collided with Frank's Gun checking Frank's Gun.
Frank's Gun was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right and left hamstring. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Camilleri, the trainer of the greyhound Athletica. Athletica was vetted and revetted following race 8. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both hamstrings, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Athletica with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury) and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
