Steward's Report
Du Plessis was slow to begin. Hornsey's Mate crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Santa Storm, Molly Michelle, Mepunga Ledger and Arolok Jane. Santa Storm crossed to the outside entering the back straight, severely checking Du Plessis. Besancion crossed to the rail on the second turn, checking Besancion, Arolok Jane and Mepunga Ledger. Mepunga Ledger and Arolok Jane collided approaching the home turn. Hornsey's Mate checked off Lightning Storm approaching the home turn. Santa Storm and Du Plessis raced wide in the home straight. Hornsey's Mate veered in and marred the running of Lightning Storm in the home straight.
Hornsey's Mate was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to A Sacco, the trainer of the greyhound Hornsey's Mate. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Hornsey's Mate with marring and suspended the greyhound for 12 months (all tracks) and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(c), before any future nomination will be accepted.
