Steward's Report

A pre race sample was taken from Pedro's Runaway.

Bark Simpson was quick to begin.  Knockin' Milo, Where's Asha and Sonny's Magic were slow to begin.  Bark Simpson checked off Rusty Rogers on the first turn checking Courtesy, Blasting Bear and Where's Asha.  Bark Simpson, Blasting Bear, Where's Asha and Courtesy collided in the back straight checking Courtesy.  Bark Simpson and Where's Asha collided approaching the home turn severely checking Where's Asha which stumbled as a result and lost considerable ground.

Where's Asha was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a graze to the right hock.  No stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Knockin' Milo - the winner of the event.

Following the running of the event the greyhound Courtesy slipped the lead whilst entering the kennel yards.  Stewards spoke to the handler, Mr. S. Healey, who stated that the lure moved as he was entering the yard and the dog broke free.  Stewards spoke to the lure driver Mr. B. Halligan, who stated that he moved the lure believing all the greyhounds had left the track.  Stewards noted that the lure driver has no vision of the trainers as they leave the track.  Stewards advised Mr. Halligan to wait for a short time after they go out of sight in future to ensure all greyhounds have left the track and took no further action in the matter.
