Flying In Hot was quick to begin.  Get It Done was slow to begin. 

Urgent – Late scratching at 18:11 on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 92) due to an elavated temperature. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre–race sample was taken from Knew That.

Deedee's Hope was quick to begin. High Emotion and Why Not Emily were slow to begin.

Prior to the event, Stewards spoke to Trainer and Kennel Representative Ms.Judith McMahon, regarding the nominations and her expectations for this event given that all greyhounds in the field were from the McMahon’s kennels.  Ms. McMahon informed Stewards that she had no expectations from any greyhound. Ms.McMahon stated that she did not place a wager on the event.

Doctor Johnny and Indy were slow to begin. Dr. Xian was very slow to begin (3 L).

Dr. Johnny severely checked at the 350m mark and fell, underwent a post–race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

An out of competition sample was taken from Why Not Jules on 8/2/2023 pursuant to GAR 139. 

A sample was taken from Off The Cuff upon arrival at the course.

A pre–race sample was taken from Murt Law.

Why not Jules was quick to begin. Slick Sundance and Off The Cuff were slow to begin.

Soda Jazzy underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request and was found to have a left foreleg dislocated toe.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Little Kit – Late scratching at 18:13 on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 92) due to an elavated temperature. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Bean's Multi and Sweet Life were slow to begin.

Taylor's Jewel collided with Sweet Life in the home straight, Taylor's Jewel subsequently fell, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a radius ulna fracture. A 90 day stand down period was imposed. 

Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track in the home straight and deemed it satisfactory for racing.

An out of competition sample was taken from Razzle Dazzle on 8/2/2023 pursuant to GAR 139. 

Agronomous was slow to begin.

Zealous Alex lost ground on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left foreleg pectoral injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms Terri -Maree Morris regarding the racing manners of Zealous Alex on the first turn. After hearing submissions from Ms Morris, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners

A post–race sample was taken from Got The Torque – the winner of the event. 

An out of competition sample was taken from Smooth Cruiser and Cinta's Gift on 8/2/2023 pursuant to GAR 139.

This event was delayed by approximately 6 minutes due to opperational issues.

Panama Dash was slow to begin.

Tarp Welder underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Anthony Clarke-Bruce regarding the behaviour of Tarp Welder in pulling up before the return gate and not entering the catching pen. The Stewards hold concerns that this poses an unnecessary safety issue for Tarp Welder, for other greyhounds in the race and staff that triage these types of incidents. After considering submissions from Mr Clarke-Bruce, a warning was issued that further such instances of this nature may result in Tarp Welder being placed on a conditional satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 129.

A pre–race sample was taken from Dunwerkin.

This event was delayed by approimately 2 minutes. 

Sonny Daze was quick to begin. Dunwerkin and Cool Blue Star were slow to begin.

Sonny Daze severely checked at the 250m mark and subsequently fell, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have left and right foreleg fractures. Sonny Daze was humanely euthanised. 

A post–race sample was taken from Django Maskiel – the winner of the event.  

Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track in the home straight and deemed it satisfactory for racing.

Cross The River was quick to begin. Gero Lads and Winter Storm were slow to begin.

An out of competition sample was taken from Locked And Ready and Team Staffing on 8/2/2023 pursuant to GAR 139.

Locked And Ready box one raced without an ISO - Linx chip for this event.

Team Staffing underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request and was found to have a right foreleg pectoral injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.  

Mr Malcolm Carr was issued with a warning regarding the use of a mobile phone in the kennelling area in accordance with GAR 96.

Dr. Boone, Garside and Dainty Leigh were slow to begin.

Garside severely checked on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

An out of competition sample was taken from Devon Lass on 8/2/2023 pursuant to GAR 139.

Devon Lass was quick to begin. Almighty Mack and Bit Twisted were slow to begin.

Stewards spoke to kennel attendant Mr. C Moran and reminded him of his responsibilities . This matter was refered to his manager.
