A race day sample was taken from Umberto at the trainer’s kennel, earlier today.

Dewana Be Tiny was quick to begin. 

Dewana Be Tiny contacted the running rail on the first turn, visibly eased and subsequently pulled up. Dewana Be Tiny underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the left hind leg. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Brendan Dewan regarding Dewana Be Tiny’s racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Dewana Be Tiny was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Dewan pled guilty to the charge, Dewana Be Tiny was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Leeroy Intention turned its head to the inside in the home straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following event 4. Leeroy Intention was found to have a left long head triceps injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Todd O'Neill regarding Leeroy Intention’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Leeroy Intention was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. O'Neill pled guilty to the charge, Leeroy Intention was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Minter Win, Tan And Black and Paluma were quick to begin. 

A post-race sample was taken from Tan And Black - the winner of the event. 

Mason Lava, Fellow Texans and Lola Intention were slow to begin.

Raw Sight was severely checked entering the back straight, stumbled and subsequenlty tailed off. Raw Sight underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the muzzle. No stand down period was applied. 

Stewards noted the muzzle of Raw Sight became dislodged during the running of the event. 

A post-race sample was taken from Desired Path - the winner of the event. 

Slick Amy – New declared weight of 28.3kg, last raced at 27.2kg.

Jimmy The Pumper was quick to begin.

Supply Chain marred Jimmy The Pumper entering the home straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to both long head triceps, right shoulder and left triangle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Benny Briffa regarding Supply Chain’s racing manners turning into the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123 Supply Chain was charged with marring. Mr Briffa pled guilty to the charge, Supply Chain was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Fifty Stars underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have suffered a seizure in the catching pen. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under the provisions of GAR 42, Fifty Stars is prohibited from competing in an event until such time as both a veterinary clearance is provided to the satisfaction of Stewards and a satisfactory trial is completed, pursuant to GAR 132. Further, under the provisions of GAR 42 (3) Fifty Stars, is suspended from racing for 28 days.

In accordance with GAR 156(w) Mr Benny Briffa was issued with a warning regarding the non–compliance with the GRV Dress Code.

Blazing Beth and Scarlett Express were quick to begin. 

Spotted Bull marred Blazing Beth entering the home straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left long head triceps injury and a right triangle muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to Mr Barry Mills regarding Spotted Bull’s racing manners turning into the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123 Spotted Bull was charged with marring. Mr Mills pled guilty to the charge, Spotted Bull was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Lektra Tinsel and Burdock were quick to begin. Fabriola Yanis and Foxtrot Tango were slow to begin. 

Garry Stun On was quick to begin.

An out of competition sample was taken from Gypsy Yankee on 7 February 2023 pursuant to GAR 139.

Black Compass was slow to begin.

Black Compass fell on the first turn, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was found.

Aussie Rocks – New declared weight of 33.1kg, last raced at 31.9kg.

Aussie Rocks was quick to begin. Crackerjack Aret and Minter Formula were slow to begin.

Red Hot Lady was slow to begin.

Red Hot Lady faltered in the back straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
