A race day sample was taken from Play The Victim at the trainer’s kennel, earlier today.

Stewards interviewed Mr. R. Colpoys, the trainer of Redshift Uniform in relation to the bona fides of the withdrawal from this race. Stewards noted Mr Colpoys' comments. 

Madalia Tipper and Work Boot were slow to begin.

Smokin' Rico faltered on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist sprain. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. E. Karalis regarding Smokin' Rico's overall performance in the event. In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Mr. Karalis to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Smokin' Rico in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.

A pre–race sample was taken from Mega Banjo Boy.

Minter Spice and Cross The River were quick to begin. Minter Win was slow to begin.

Mega Banjo Boy faltered turning off the back straight, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have right hindleg back muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre–race sample was taken from Hot Fudge.

Hooked On Red was slow to begin.

Stewards spoke to handler Mr. D. Harrison regarding the delay in boxing Waterloo Boy in this event. Stewards reminded Mr Harrison of his responsibilities in relation to GAR 105 (9).

An out of competition sample was taken from Steel Hawk on 20 December 2022 pursuant to GAR 139. 

A race day sample was taken from My Blaze at the trainer’s kennel, earlier today.

Penny Daze – Late scratching at 5:57pm due to weight variation (GAR 101). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Ms. D. Cumes was fined $100.

Uninhabited Man was slow to begin.

Uninhabited Man lost ground soon after the start, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have right and left shin soreness. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Howell, the trainer of Uninhabited Man regarding the greyhound's overall performance in this event. Mr Howell stated that Uninhabited Man had not previously trialled at Warragul and has had little field experience. Stewards noted Mr Howell's comments and taking into consideration the injury sustained and this being the greyhound's first start, no further action was taken. Stewards informed Mr Howell that a similar performance in the future may result in a Satisfactory trial.

A race day sample was taken from Behind Greywalls and Donald Lane at the trainer’s kennels, earlier today.

Real Mickoy – Proved difficult to box and will be boxed first in future events in accordance with GAR 106.

Real Mickoy, Little Amelia and Magic Bee were quick to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Jimmy The Bear - the winner of the event.

Stewards spoke to Ms. S. Richards regarding the racing manners of Jimmy The Bear in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Ms. Richards, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.

Snowy Alford was severely checked on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left back muscle, right groin and both shins. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
