Steward's Report

Bern By and All The Smoke were slow to begin.

Ha Hanna underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainer's request and was found to have a right-hind hamstrings injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. S. Kipirtidis regarding Ha Hanna's racing manners entering the back straight. After hearing submissions from Mr. Kipirtidis, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards were satisfied that the greyhound had lost ground as a result of interference in running and took no further action.

Mepunga Tilly shifted out and raced ungenerously turning into the back straight, underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Kennel Representative Ms. A. Langton regarding Mepunga Tilly's racing manners entering the back straight. After hearing submissions from Ms. Langton, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards were not comfortably satisfied that the greyhound's racing manners were severe enough to sustain a charge under the relevant Rules of Racing. A warning was issued to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the back straight.

Parumba Gem shifted out, turned its head outwards, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right dew claw. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Ms. D. Cumes regarding Parumba Gem’s racing manners entering the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Parumba Gem was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms. Cumes pleaded not guilty to the charge, Parumba Gem was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Mepunga Tilly - the winner of the event.
