Steward's Report
Giovani and Udella Bale were quick to begin. Starter's King was slow to begin.
Giovani visibly eased approaching the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Trainer Mr S. Jack declined a re-vet. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr S. Jack regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124 Giovani was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Jack pled not guilty to the charge, Giovani was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Establishment fell approaching first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg thigh muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Red Impact lost ground from entering the home straight, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
A post race sample was taken from Udella Bale- winner of the event.
Supplementary Report: A Stay of Proceedings was issued by the Victorian Racing Tribunal (VRT) on Friday 19 August 2022 on the GAR 124 penalty issued to Giovani.
Supplementary Report: On 24 August 2022, the Victorian Racing Tribunal (VRT) dismissed the Giovani appeal and confirmed the original decision of the Stewards. As the original penalty was subject to Stay Orders, the 28-day stand-down penalty is to apply from Wednesday 24 August 2022.
