Matalino Twist was quick to begin. Son Of Sassi and Kuznetsov were slow to begin.
Riverdale Ellie, Matalino Twist and Ima Goodin collided on the first turn checking Ima Goodin which collided with Son Of Sassi causing Ima Goodin to lose considerable ground. Wind Walker and Kuznetsov collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Son Of Sassi, Matalino Twist, Riverdale Ellie and Premier Ruby collided on the first turn checking Riverdale Ellie and severely checking Matalino Twist which fell. Wind Walker raced wide on the home turn. Power Blitz and Matalino Twist collided approaching the winning post. Power Blitz eased approaching the winning post.
Matalino Twist was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both shoulders and the right thigh. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. K. Blake, the handler of the greyhound Power Blitz. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Power Blitz with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment and suspended the greyhound for 28 days (Ballarat) and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
