Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Afro Puff.
Albert's Magic was slow to begin.
Champ Duran and Soho Express collided soon after the start checking Soho Expresso. Soho Expresso and Afro Puff collided approaching the first turn checking Soho Expresso. Soho Expresso contacted the running rail on the first turn. Albert's Magic, Champ Duran, Afro Puff and False Alarm collided on the first turn checking all four greyhounds. Champ Duran checked off Afro Puff approaching the home turn and collided with Soho Expresso checking Soho Expresos. Albert's Magic and False Alarm collided on the home turn checking Albert's Magic.
Soho Expresso underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right groin injury, a laceration to the tail and spike wound to the left hind paw. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Following this event and acting in accordance with the GRV Lightning and Thunderstorm Safety Procedure, racing was suspended at 5.56pm due to continuous lightning strikes within the designated safety zone around Junortoun. Due to safety concerns the meeting was abandoned at 6.20pm.
