Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Aston Musket.
Elswyk Shadow, Dynamite Des and Zippy Customer were slow to begin. Aston Musket and Bomber’s Smokey collided soon after the start. Aston Musket and Dynamite Des collided on the first turn checking Aston Musket. Kamara Bale and Elswyk Shadow collided on the first turn. Bomber’s Smokey and Kamara Bale collided entering the home straight causing Elswyk Shadow to gallop on Bomber’s Smokey checking Bomber’s Smokey. Elswyk Shadow visibly eased and turned its head in the home straight and collided with Bomber’s Smokey.
Dynamite Des underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured right flexor tendon. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Elswyk Shadow underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was reported. Trainer Mr. M. Busuttil declined his option to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Busuttil the trainer of Elswyk Shadow regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A (1) Elswyk Shadow was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due committment. Mr. Busuttil pleaded guilty to the charge, Elswyk Shadow was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
