Steward's Report
Essential persons (both staff & participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, observed social distance requirements, and adhered to room density quotients that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
The closing time of kennelling was altered in accordance with GAR 31, due to the late arrival of Mr. Gregory Schofield. The kennels closed at 6.32pm. Mr Schofield was fined $50.
Smoke Bush Drive was quick to begin.
Moo Star and Anticipating collided soon after the start. Fabriola Bauer and Anticipating collided approaching the first turn. Fabriola Bauer checked off Anticipating on the first turn; Fabriola Bauer lost ground as a result. Anticipating veered in, turned its head inwards and marred Moo Star in the home straight. Serving Soldier visibly eased and turned its head outwards in the home straight. Serving Soldier and Zippy Tesla collided approaching the winning post.
Serving Soldier underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer Mr. Michael Bewley declined an offer for the greyhound to be re-examined by the on-track veterinarian. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. Bewley regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Serving Soldier was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Bewley pleaded guilty to the charge, Serving Soldier was suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69A(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Anticipating underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left triangle muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. Jason Thompson regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1), Anticipating was charged with marring. Mr. Thompson pleaded guilty to the charge, Anticipating was suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
