Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Oh Suzie.
Beach Master, Ramona and Short Deuce collided on the first turn, checking Short Deuce. Johnny Be Good and Ramona collided approaching the home turn.
Fort Kembla underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Darren Peterse regarding Fort Kembla escaping the catching pen. The Stewards noted that Fort Kembla had demonstrated this same practise at Bendigo on 12 March 2022 and was issued with a warning on that occasion. Acting in accordance with GAR 71 and being mindful of the safety of Fort Kembla, other greyhounds in the race and staff that triage these types of incidents, the Stewards were not satisfied with the performance and placed Fort Kembla on a satisfactory trial under GAR 71, and in accordance with GAR 72, with the condition that Fort Kembla needs to not escape the catching pen in order to pass the trial.
