Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Always Diamond.
Ruby Runner and Letter To You collided approaching the first turn. Giovani and Mumma's Meatball collided on the first turn and again on the home turn checking Mumma's Meatball. Mileena and Opal Gem collided on the home turn. Giovani checked off Mumma's Meatballs entering the home straight. Mumma's Meatballs visibly eased in the home straight and turned its head outwards severely checking Giovani. Giovani, Lilly's Stripey, Always Diamond, Mumma's Meatball and Ruby Runner raced wide in the home straight.
Giovani underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the right deltoid muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Ms Susan Abela regarding the racing manners of Giovani on the first turn. After hearing evidence from Ms Abela, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the first turm.
Mumma's Meatball underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the left back muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Ms Jeanette Imlach regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Mumma's Meatball was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Imlach pleaded guilty to the charge, Mumma's Meatball was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
