Steward's Report
Dazz Desire – Late scratching at 9:51 am when Mr Lewis Green upon arrival on course reported the greyhound to have diarrhoea (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 20(3)(v) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Bobby McGee, Urunga Bale and Gypsy Warrior were quick to begin.
Bugs, Shania's Dream and Call Me Buddy collided soon after the start. Gypsy Warrior visably eased approaching the first turn. Urunga Bale and Gunther collided on the first turn, checking Gunther. Shania's Dream checked off Bugs on the first turn; checking Call Me Buddy, Shania's Dream and Gypsy Warrior; causing Shania's Dream and Gypsy Warrior to lose ground. Gunther checked off Bobby McGee approaching the home turn.
Gypsy Warrior underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 12, no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to Mr Kevin Quinn, the representative of Gypsy Warrior regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Gypsy Warrior was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Quinn pleaded not guilty to the charge, Gypsy Warrior was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Call Me Buddy - second placed in the event.
