Steward's Report
Queen Sal was quick to begin. Free Ride was slow to begin. Sally Intention and Free Ride collided on the first turn. Free Ride clipped the heels of Leg Burner approaching the home turn checking Free Ride. Just Saying, Queen Sal, Aston Salma and Defined Benefit collided entering the home straight checking Aston Salma and Defined Benefit. Just Saying and Leg Burner collided entering the home straight. Free Ride shifted out approaching the winning post, visibly eased and collided with Leg Burner and Just Saying.
Free Ride underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured left chest muscle and an abrasion on the right hind. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr. Stephen Whyte regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B(1), Free Ride was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Whyte pleaded guilty to the charge, Free Ride was found guilty and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69B(1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post race sample was taken from Defined Benefit - winner of the event.
