Steward's Report
Jazz Icon and Major Sacrifice were slow to begin. Go Nera and Meat Murphy collided approaching the first turn. His Stop It was checked off Go Nera on the first turn. Major Sacrifice crossed to the rail on the first turn checking Go Nera and Meat Murphy. Riccarton Matt was checked off Meat Murphy on the third turn. Riccarton Matt marred Go Nera in the home straight checking Riccarton Matt, Go Nera and No Way Nellie.
Riccarton Matt underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured right shoulder muscle. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. A. Helleren, the trainer of Riccarton Matt regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Riccarton Matt was charged with marring. Mr. Helleren pleaded guilty to the charge, Riccarton Matt was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post race sample was taken from Major Sacrifice - winner of the event.
There was no head on vision of the back straight for this event.
