A pre-race sample was taken from Chasing Honey.
Kinloch Journey, Bad Bailey and Chasing Honey were quick to begin. Crown Rhode was slow to begin.
Bad Bailey and Chasing Honey collided soon after the start. Keybow Sally and Crown Rhode collided approaching the first turn. Crown Rhode and Structure collided on the first turn, checking Crown Rhode. Malicious Yaala and Keybow Sally collided on the first turn, checking Malicious Yaala. Chasing Honey checked off Barellen Pearl approaching the home turn. Kinloch Journey and Chasing Honey collided approaching the home turn. Barellen Pearl visibly eased and turned it's head outwards on the home turn. Keybow Sally and Chasing Honey collided in the home straight. Barellen Pearl and Kinloch Journey collided in the home straight.
Barellen Pearl underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left monkey muscle injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to the trainer, Mr A. King regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Barellen Pearl was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr A. King pleaded not guilty to the charge, Barellen Pearl was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
