Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Sizzling Sam.
The start of this event was delayed for 20 seconds whilst the track was cleared to ensure the safety of all runners.
Vegas Gangster was slow to begin.
Arcanine, Rockin' Rosie, Freda Rocks and Selynya Teddy collided soon after the start, checking Rockin' Rosie and Freda Rocks. Mepunga Sparkle, Arcanine and Sizzling Sam collided on the first turn. Rockin' Rosie faltered entering the front straight and tailed off as a result. Arcanine, Sizzling Sam, Mepunga Sparkle and Vegas Gangster collided on the second turn, checking Mepunga Sparkle and Vegas Gangster and severely checking Sizzling Sam. Sizzling Sam checked off Vegas Gangster in the back straight. Freda Rocks turned it's head outwards in the home straight and collided with Selynya Teddy. Mepunga Sparkle veered out and raced ungenerous in the home straight.
Mepunga Sparkle a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hind quadriceps injury. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr R. Lyons regarding the racing manners of Mepunga Sparkle in the home straight. After hearing evidence from Mr. Lyons, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.
Rockin' Rosie underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right foreleg monkey muscle injury. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.
Freda Rocks underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr M. Briganti the trainer of Freda Rocks regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Freda Rocks was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr M Briganti pleaded guilty to the charge, Freda Rocks was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown Park and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
