Road To Cairns, Rio Dixie and Jabba Bolt collided soon after the start. Toyed, Dancing Rose and Litigator collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn, checking Dancing Rose. Road To Cairns and Magnet Force collided on the first turn. Rio Dixie and Jabba Bolt collided on the first turn. Road To Cairns, My Oh Fernando and Magnet Force collided approaching the home turn; checking My Oh Fernando and Magnet Force; causing Rio Dixie to gallop on Magnet Force; severely checking Magnet Force; checking Rio Dixie, Toyed, Dancing Rose and Litigator. Jabba Bolt and My Oh Fernando collided approaching the home turn; checking My Oh Fernando; causing Rio Dixie, My Oh Fernando and Dancing Rose to collide. Litigator checked off Jabba Bolt in the home straight.
Magnet Force underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have spike wounds to the left foreleg and hindleg, and right hindleg triangle injuries. A five day stand down period was imposed.
