Mr. Holyfield was quick to begin.
Diego, Majestic Jewel and Zambora Flame collided soon after the start; checking Majestic Jewel and Zambora Flame. Mr. Holyfield and Plagiarise collided on the first turn; checking Plagiarise; severely checking Mr. Holyfield, which stumbled and lost ground as a result; checking Extravagance; causing Diego to race wide. Mr. Holyfield and Zambora Flame collided approaching the first turn, checking Zambora Flame.
Mr. Holyfield underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have mild soreness to the left foreleg toe. No stand down period was imposed.
