A pre-race sample was taken from My Boy Charlott.
My Boy Charlott and Zulu Riot were quick to begin.
Winlock At Large and Malo Magic collided soon after the start. Maximum Shirley and Zulu Riot collided approaching the first turn. Malo Magic checked off Chessmen approaching the first turn. Maximum Shirley and Zulu Riot collided on the first turn; checking Zulu Riot, causing Zulu Riot, Moonlight Jack and Chessmen to collide; Zulu Riot fell as a result; checking Maximum Shirley, Moonlight Jack, Chessmen and Malo Magic. Winlock At Large checked off Zulu Riot approaching the home turn; causing Winlock At Large to fall.
Zulu Riot underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the left foreleg. No stand down period was imposed.
Winlock At Large underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg monkey muscle injury. A seven day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Jordan Cooper regarding the racing manners of Maximum Shirley in the turn off the back straight. After hearing evidence from Mr Cooper, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, Stewards took into account the significant interference in the race and took no further action.
