Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Starter's King.
Mt. View Blonde and Starter’s King were very slow to begin (3 lengths). Lemon crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Blazin’ Sushi and Candy Gem. Candy Gem visibly eased on the first turn. Mt. View Blonde galloped on Candy Gem on the first turn checking Candy Gem. Starter’s King and Fancy Lily collided on the home turn. Lemon crossed out entering the home straight and checked off He Can Talk.
Candy Gem underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured right hamstring. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative, Mr. J. Musselwhite regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Candy Gem was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Musselwhite pleaded guilty to the charge, Candy Gem was found guilty and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
