Orson Franky was slow to begin.
Illusional and Explodes To Burn collided soon after the start. Illusional, Explodes To Burn, Hot Wash, Loch Terrace and Blaze To Win collided at the 250m mark checking Illusional, Explodes To Burn and Hot Wash. Bennison Belle crossed to the outside at the 250m mark. Illusional and Hot Wash collided at the 200m mark checking Illusional. Illusional crossed to the outside approaching the 100m mark.
Explodes To Burn underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the left hind achilles tendon. No stand down penalty was applied.
