Rumour Is Fact checked off Dr. Knuckles on the first turn; checking Inuka; severely checking Rumour Is Fact and Bus Driver. Princess Lace faltered on the first turn and raced wide as a result. Rumour Is Fact and Bus Driver collided approaching the home turn. Bean's Multi and Dr. Knuckles collided in the home straight.
Princess Lace underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following race nine. Princess Lace was found to have a right hindleg triangle injury. A five day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr David Kerr, the representative of Princess Lace regarding its performance on the first turn. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71 Princess Lace must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Inuka underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg haematoma. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
