Springvale Arge was quick to begin.
Zipping Loxley went up with the lids at box rise. Zipping Loxley and Zipping Jazz collided on the first turn. Sweet Demi checked off Sprinvale Arge on the second turn. Aston Marlon and Springvale Arge collided in the back straight; checking Sweet Demi; severely checking Springvale Arge. Zipping Loxley and Sweet Demi collided on the third turn. Zipping Loxley and Aston Marlon collided on the home turn; checking both greyhounds. Sweet Demi and Zipping Loxley collided on the home turn; checking both greyhounds.
Aston Marlon underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have abrasion and spike wound injuries to the left hindleg. A three day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms Heather Collins regarding the racing manners of Aston Marlon in the back straight. After hearing evidence from Ms Collins, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the back straight.
