Johnny Disco, Maniac Martini and Toby Castle collided approaching the first turn. Johnny Disco checked off Toby Castle on the first turn checking Maniac Martini. Feel The Rhythm and Johnny Disco collided on the first turn. Feel The Rhythm raced wide approaching the winning post.

Following the event, Maniac Martini collapsed in the catching pen. The greyhound was pronounced deceased by the On-Track Veterinarian. Routine samples were taken and an autopsy will be conducted in accordance with GAR 78.

Supplementary Report - Following the meeting held at Geelong on 10 September, 2021, an autopsy was conducted on the greyhound Maniac Martini which was pronounced deceased by the On-Track Veterinarian following the running of Race 2. The likely cause of death was acute cardiac failure.
