Blackpool Bolt was quick to begin.
Fernando's Quest and No Payer collided soon after the start. No Payer and Zimmer Bale collided soon after the start. Stiff Wind and Blackpool Bolt collided soon after the start. Stiff Wind checked off Blackpool Bolt soon after the start. Siren Head and Fernando's Quest collided approaching the first turn; checking Fernando's Quest and Mepunga Daniel. Stiff Wind and Siren Head collided on the first turn, checking Siren Head. Cheri Clownfish contacted the running rail on the first turn; checking Cheri Clownfish, Mepunga Daniel and Fernando's Quest. Stiff Wind and No Payer collided in the home straight.
Cheri Clownfish underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left foreleg monkey muscle injury. A five day stand down period was imposed.
It was noted that the muzzle of Mepunga Daniel became partially dislodged during the running of the event.
