A pre-race sample was taken from Smokey Cape.
Palmistry and Smokey Cape were slow to begin.
Palmistry, Kraken Pearler and Quincee Bale collided soon after the start. Palmistry brushed the running rail on the first turn. Tat Panda checked off Smokey Cape on the first turn. Kraken Pearler and Tat Panda collided in the home straight.
