Jackie Speedy was quick to begin. Chesty La Rue shifted in soon after the start checking Mt. View Bee and Mt. View Mon and severely checking Highway Man. Mt. View Burner and Mt. View Moon collided approaching the first turn checking Mt. View Moon. Classy Edition and Jackie Speedy collided on the first turn severely checking Classy Edition and Jackie Speedy; Jackie Speedy lost considerable ground checking Mt. View Bee as a result. Chesty La Rue turned it's head inward and visibly eased on the first turn and again several times approaching the home turn. Mt. View Burner and Chesty La Rue collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight, checking Mt. View Burner.
Mt. View Bee underwent a post-race veterinary examination following a fall after the winning post and was found to have a left adductor (groin) injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Chesty La Rue underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right monkey muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative, Mr Danny Cortese regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Chesty La Rue was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Cortese pleaded guilty to the charge; Chesty La Rue was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
