Steward's Report
All Staff & Participants attending the race-meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the Kennel Block and Associated Buildings and when engaged in the exclusive race-day functions of handling, boxing, starting & catching greyhounds.
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 24.4 degrees and the kennel temperature was 16.3 degrees. The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.
Upon arrival, Stewards conducted checks on all trainers' vehicles used to transport greyhounds to today's meeting. Stewards were satisfied that all (bar one) transportation used today complied with GRV Hot Weather and GRV Transport of Greyhounds Policy.
The Stewards opened an inquiry into the transport used by Trainer Adrian Symons to today's race meeting. It was established that the relevant vehicle did not have air conditioning as required by the GRV Transportation of Greyhounds Policy.
As a result the following greyhounds were withdrawn by Order of the Stewards, in the best interests of greyhound racing, in accordance with GAR 20 (4) (b): Race 2 - Coastal Edge, Race 3 - Three Kisses.
Tat Panda and Global Surprise collided soon after the start checking Tat Panda. Tat Panda, Crystal Edition and Mt. View Entry collided approaching the first turn checking Crystal Edition and Mt. View Entry. Crystal Edition and Mt. View Entry collided on the first turn. Global Surprise and Killer Miss collided on the first turn checking Global Surprise. Full Recovery and Killer Miss collided in the home straight checking Killer Miss.
