Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID–19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4–wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8.  Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.

All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore facemasks/covers that in–turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race–day functions and operations.

The Stewards were advised that the track was medium harrowed on 21 October 2020.

Wee Fishin' – Late scratching at 4:54 pm on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to a laceration to the right foreleg toe.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Dream Of Me was quick to begin.  Husky Flyer and Itchy Kaala were slow to begin.

Inga Brodie, Husky Flyer and Itchy Kaala collided on the first turn and again on the home turn; checking all three greyhounds.

Minnie Banjo – Late scratching at 4:52 pm on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to a lost nail on the left foreleg.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed. 

Masalki, Pyrenees Alpha, Meet Joe Black, Jealous Again, Rev Up Axel and Banjo Bert collided soon after the start; checking Masalki, Meet Joe Black, Jealous Again and Pyrenees Alpha.  Pyrenees Alpha checked off Jealous Again on the first turn. 

Aston Current and Pyrenees Pegasus were slow to begin.

Reiko Bolt, Zipping Gypsy and Last Shot collided approaching the first turn.  Last Shot, Aston Current and Prinny Arandt collided on the first turn; causing Aston Current to fall.  Prinny Arandt marred Rona Express in the home straight; checking both greyhounds.  Reiko Bolt, Prinny Arandt, Rona Express and Zipping Gypsy collided approaching the winning post; checking Rona Express, Zipping Gypsy and Prinny Arandt.

Aston Current underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg back muscle injury.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Prinny Arandt underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Stewards spoke to Mr M Zammit, the representative of Prinny Arandt regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Prinny Arandt was charged with marring.  Mr Zammit pleaded guilty to the charge, Prinny Arandt was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Horsham and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Ferdinand Boy was slow to begin.

Aston Lopez checked off Ferdinand Boy on the first turn.  Glamorous Lass and Aston Lopez collided on the first turn; checking Aston Lopez and Quade Bale.  Oriental Amber and Fugacious collided on the first turn, checking Fugacious.  Fugacious and Aston Lopez collided approaching the winning post.

Think Big Harry and Crown Knox were slow to begin.

Who Is Arandt checked off No Regrets on the first turn.  Reiko Bear and No Regrets collided approaching the home turn, checking No Regrets.  Crown Knox checked off Who Is Arandt on the home turn.  Serengeti Icon and Who Is Arandt collided several times in the home straight.

Annie My Mate was slow to begin.

Elsa Rose, Jetta's Shout, Denise's Vision and Keybow Sally collided approaching the first turn; checking Jetta's Shout, Denise's Vision and Keybow Sally.  Keybow Sally checked off Denise's Vision and collided with Annie My Mate.

Not All Over and Aston Logic were slow to begin.

Tin Can Sam, Not All Over and Yellow And Black collided soon after the start.  Our Brinni, Pyrenees Spirit and Tin Can Sam collided on the first turn; checking Our Brinni, National Level, Pyrenees Spirit and Not All Over.  Pyrenees Spirit galloped on Aston Logic approaching the home turn; checking both greyhounds.  Our Brinni galloped on Pyrenees Spirit on the home turn; checking both greyhounds.  National Level checked off Not All Over on the home turn.

Inga Mia was quick to begin.

Take The Lead checked off Rev Up Rob on the first turn.  Rev Up Rob checked off Inga Mia approaching the home turn.  Take The Lead checked off Permit Granted on the home turn, checking Silver Compass.  Permit Granted and Inga Mia collided entering the home straight and again in the home straight, checking Inga Mia.  Permit Granted, Rev Up Rob and Take The Lead collided approaching the winning post; checking Rev Up Rob.

King Crow went up with the lids at box rise.  Crowdza Rockin' was slow to begin.

King Crow and Reiko Live Wire collided on the first turn; checking Reiko Live Wire and Wilmont Street.  Beach Master and King Crow collided in the home straight, checking King Crow.

Pocket The Cash was slow to begin.

Society Icon and Karen's Word collided on the first turn, checking Society Icon.  Nova's Girl checked off Morning Heather on the first turn.  Karen's Word checked off Irina Bale approaching the home turn; checking Morning Heather and Pocket The Cash.  Society Icon raced wide approaching the home turn.

The announcement of the All Clear was delayed to allow the Stewards to review the positioning of the lure on the first turn.  After viewing the footage and acting on their own observations, the Stewards were entirely satisfied that while the lure was less than 5 metres ahead of the leading greyhound on the first turn, no greyhounds were materially predjudiced and the All Clear was posted.

Pyrenees Steele was slow to begin.

Gettysburg checked off Kraken Tex on the first turn.

Numinous underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a slow recovery.  No stand down period was imposed.

Gala Bale was slow to begin.

Quillan Bale checked off Jabba Bolt on the first turn, checking Gala Bale.  Brazen Crow checked off Jabba Bolt entering the home straight.

Quillan Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Stewards spoke to Ms A Gurry, trainer of Quillan Bale, regarding the performance, which was below market expectations.  Ms Gurry stated that she believed the greyhound did not back up following its run on 20 October 2020, and that she intends to space its runs further apart in future.  Stewards noted the comments and in accordance with GAR 75 (1), the Stewards requested Ms Gurry to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Quillan Bale in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
