Always Cousins was slow to begin.

Gypsy Warrior lost ground approaching the first turn, checking Sirius Faith. Sirius Faith galloped on Gypsy Warrior on the first turn; checking both greyhounds. Brindi Yaala checked off Lektra Little on the first turn.

Gypsy Warrior underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left and right hindleg pencil/whip injuries. A five day stand down period was imposed.
