Steward's Report
As a precautionary measure, Stewards further vetted Border Bandit and Worms Are Biting prior to kennels closing due to the late scratching of their respective kennel mates (elevated tempretature). Both Border Bandit and Worms Are Biting were passed fit to start.
Five Bucks Down, One Point Five, Bolt Lightning and Tinker Gypsy collided soon after the start. Bolt Lightning, Tinker Gypsy and One Point Five collided approaching the first turn, checking Bolt Lightning. Border Bandit galloped on the heels of Five Bucks Down on the first turn, checking both greyhounds. Tinker Gypsy and Grand Warrior collided on the first turn, checking One Point Five and Tinker Gypsy. Border Bandit and Tiara Bay collided on the first turn; checking Border Bandit, which fell.
Border Bandit underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left foreleg shoulder muscle and right hindleg hock injuries. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Worms Are Biting - the winner of the event.
