Steward's Report

Sagacious, Pure Mania and Aunt Finnie collided soon after the start checking Pure Mania and Aunt Finnie. Sagacious, Viking Junior, Dark Soul and Finch collided soon after the start checking Dark Soul and Viking Junior. Viking Junior and Pure Mania collided approaching the first turn. Tank Girl checked off Finch on the first turn. Dark Soul and Viking Junior collided on the first turn checking Dark Soul, Viking Junior and Pure Mania. Aunt Finnie and Tank Girl collided on the first turn and again approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Aunt Finnie, Viking Junior and Pure Mania collided on the home turn checking all three greyhounds. Finch and Sagacious collided in the home straight.

Pure Mania underwent a post-race veterinary examination after falling soon after the winning post, Pure Mania found to have a lumbo sacral injury and a torn dew claw to the left forleg. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Ken Howat regarding the racing manners of Pure Mania in the home straight. After hearing evidence from Mr Howat, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued.

A post-race sample was taken from Finch - the winner of the event.
