Steward's Report
All staff and participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of handling, boxing, starting and catching greyhounds.
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 22.0 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.4 degrees. The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.
Marla Penny was quick to begin.
Agent Hamish crossed to the inside soon after the start checking Neangar Boy, Post Office Girl and Doods Joy. Dodds Joy and Agent Hamish collided on the first turn checking Agent Hamish. Dodds Joy checked off Marla Penny on the second turn. Post Office Girl checked off Agent Hamish entering the back straight. Agent Hamish marred Marla Penny entering the home straight checking Marla Penny and Dodds Joy. Agent Hamish marred Marla Penny in the home straight.
Dr. Perry underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Agent Hamish underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the snout. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Nathan Rooney regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Agent Hamish was charged with marring. Mr Rooney pleaded guilty to the charge, Agent Hamish was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
