Steward's Report
Aston Paisley - Late scratching at 6.59am when Mr Paul Abela reported the greyhound to have Diarrhoea (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 20(3)(v) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Western Country and Tiggerlong Jet were slow to begin.
Orlando and Weblec Blazer collided soon after the start checking Weblec Blazer. Western Country and Weblec Blazer collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Western Country and Ridge collided on the first turn checking Ridge and Lightning Ride. Western Country turned its head outwards and collided with Ridge on the second turn. Lightning Ride visibly eased in the back straight. Western Country marred Ridge in the back straight. Lightning Ride visibly eased on the third turn. Tiggerlong Jet, Western Country and Ridge collided on the third turn checking Western Country and Ridge.
Western Country underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 9 - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Ms Angela Langton, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the second turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Western Country was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms Langton pleaded guilty to the charge, Western Country was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Lightning Ride underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the right foreleg. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Cameron Bahen regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Lightning Ride was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Bahen pleaded guilty to the charge, Lightning Ride was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
