All staff and participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of handling, boxing, starting and catching greyhounds.

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 22.0 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.4 degrees. The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy. 

Marla Penny was quick to begin.

Agent Hamish crossed to the inside soon after the start checking Neangar Boy, Post Office Girl and Doods Joy. Dodds Joy and Agent Hamish collided on the first turn checking Agent Hamish. Dodds Joy checked off Marla Penny on the second turn. Post Office Girl checked off Agent Hamish entering the back straight. Agent Hamish marred Marla Penny entering the home straight checking Marla Penny and Dodds Joy. Agent Hamish marred Marla Penny in the home straight.

Dr. Perry underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Agent Hamish underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the snout. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Nathan Rooney regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Agent Hamish was charged with marring. Mr Rooney pleaded guilty to the charge, Agent Hamish was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Dr. Francisco - The frequency of racing was discussed with Representative Mr W. McMahon, his comments were noted. 

Dr. Francisco and Reloaded were slow to begin.

Chillout Cookie and Dr. Francisco collided soon after the start checking Dr. Francisco. Weblec Star crossed to the outside approaching the first turn checking Weblec Star, Spearhead Joe and Mepunga Freda. Spearhead Joe and Mepunga Freda collided approaching the first turn checking Spearhead Joe. Spearhead Joe checked off Reloaded on the first turn checking Chillout Cookie. Midoriyama checked off Weblec Star approaching the second turn. Dr. Francisco checked off Midoriyama on the second turn.

Dr. Francisco underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Aston Paisley - Late scratching at 6.59am when Mr Paul Abela reported the greyhound to have Diarrhoea (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 20(3)(v) before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Western Country and Tiggerlong Jet were slow to begin.

Orlando and Weblec Blazer collided soon after the start checking Weblec Blazer. Western Country and Weblec Blazer collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Western Country and Ridge collided on the first turn checking Ridge and Lightning Ride. Western Country turned its head outwards and collided with Ridge on the second turn. Lightning Ride visibly eased in the back straight. Western Country marred Ridge in the back straight. Lightning Ride visibly eased on the third turn. Tiggerlong Jet, Western Country and Ridge collided on the third turn checking Western Country and Ridge.

Western Country underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 9 - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Ms Angela Langton,  regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the second turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Western Country was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms Langton pleaded guilty to the charge, Western Country was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Lightning Ride underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the right foreleg. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Cameron Bahen regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Lightning Ride was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Bahen pleaded guilty to the charge, Lightning Ride was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Whatever I Say was quick to begin. Plan Ahead and Weblec Scout were slow to begin.

Whatever I Say and Tough Crowd collided on the first turn. Tough Crowd and Weblec Scout collided on the second turn. Isolating checked off Weblec Scout on the second turn. Whatever I Say checked off Jazz Opera entering the back straight. Whatever I Say checked off Tough Crowd on the third turn.

Aston Adonis was slow to begin.

Liverpool Flyer and Summer Lights collided on the first turn checking Liverpool Flyer and Colden Dayto. Colden Dayto and Liverpool Flyer collided approaching the second turn checking Liverpool Flyer. Colden Dayto and Maxwell collided entering the home straight checking both greyhounds.

Got The Torque and Forcefully collided soon after the start. King Gristle, Elanda Bale, Got The Torque and Forcefully collided approaching the first turn checking Elanda Bale. King Gristle, Got The Torque and Forcefully collided on the first turn checking Phantom Call and Forcefully. Phantom Call checked off Elanda Bale entering the back straight.

King Gristle underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the trainers request and was found to a torn dew claw on the left fore paw. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Indigo Indy - Late scratching at 8.58am when Sarah Swan reported the greyhound to have Diarrhoea (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 20(3)(v) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Star Ballerina and Brute were slow to begin,

Riccarton Matt and Also Arandt collided soon after the start. Ask For More and Westar Carrie collided on the first turn. Shim Bob and Riccarton Matt collided on the first turn. Shim Bob, Westar Carrie, Riccarton Matt and Also Arandt collided entering the front straight checking Shim Bob and Westar Carrie. Also Arandt checked off Riccarton Mick on the first turn and collided with Shim Bob.

Time Turner - In accordance with GAR 73, presented for a re-vet at the conclusion of kennelling as the greyhound was found to be injured at Shepparton on 4/2/21. Time Turner was examined by the on-track veterinarian and found to be free from injury. Time Turner was cleared to trial.
