Man Absconded was slow to begin.
Jokey checked off Inuka soon after the start. Inuka, Jokey and Victoria's Kara collided soon after the start. Sweet Chanelle and Spring Bjorn collided soon after the start. Busy Bella checked off Sweet Chanelle at the 200m mark checking Spring Bjorn and Jokey. Sweet Chanelle, Spring Bjorn and Jokey collided at the 150m mark. Spring Bjorn and Inuka collided approaching the 50m mark.
Victoria's Kara underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
