All staff & participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of handling, boxing, starting and catching greyhounds. 

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'.  At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 32.1 degrees and the kennel temperature was 19.1 degrees.  The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy. 

The Stewards were advised that the track was medium harrowed on 08/01/21.

The start of this event was delayed by 1 minute to hold for an interstate harness race. 

Millie's Wonder was quick to begin.

Exit Sign and Rival Wiggy collided approaching the first turn. Rival Wiggy and Mt. View Ginger collided on the first turn checking Rival Wiggy. Barooga Franky and Millie's Wonder collided on the first turn checking Millie's Wonder. Amber Mahogany, Millie's Wonder and Mt. View Ginger collided approaching the home turn. Amber Mahogany and Mt. View Ginger collided entering the home straight. Exit Sign and Mt. View Burner collided entering the home straight. Mt. View Burner turned its head outwards in the home straight and collided with Exit Sign. Millie's Wonder and Rival Wiggy collided approaching the winning post.

Mt. View Burner underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was found. Trainer Mr. T. Whitford declined to have the greyhound revetted. 

Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Whitford, the trainer of Mt. View Burner, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Mt. View Burner was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.  Mr. Whitford pleaded not guilty to the charge, Mt. View Burner was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Shining Ellie raced wide soon after the start. Urban Legend checked off Princess Deb approaching the first turn. Forever Words and Blue Entourage collided on the first turn. Princess Deb checked off Shining Ellie on the first turn checking Urban Legend. Ice Star and Blue Entourage collided entering the home straight.

Crackerjack Phil – Late scratching at 5.43pm due to weight variation (GAR 39).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Trainer, Mr. G. Hansen was fined $100.

Windburn, Lightning Gadget and Slingshot Yang collided approaching the first turn checking Lightning Gadget.Pyrenees Pegasus and Out Watto collided approaching the first turn. Lightning Gadget checked off Slingshot Yang on the home turn. Windburn and Slingshot Yang collided in the home straight.

Slingshot Yang underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was found.

Stewards spoke to trainer Mr K. Lloyd regarding the racing manners of Slingshot Yang in the home straight.  After hearing evidence from Mr Lloyd, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.

On Gas Blazing, Empire Lad and Lonesome Star collided on the first turn checking Lonesome Star.

Sister Annie was slow to begin.

Aston Sofia and Veritee Bale collided approaching the first turn checking Veritee Bale. Veritee Bale, Quirky Phoebe and Folding Stars collided approaching the first turn checking Folding Stars. Folding Stars and Quirky Phoebe collided on the home turn checking Folding Stars. Veritee Bale raced wide in the home straight.

Folding Stars underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was found.

Five Sisters checked off Mahogany Queen soon after the start. Una Star checked off Mahogany Queen on the first turn checking Tiramisu For You. Una Star checked off Tiramisu For You in the back straight. Una Star and Five Sisters collided on the second turn checking Una Star. Mahogany Queen and Tiramisu For You collided on the home turn. Shift Change and Indigo Indy collided entering the home straight. Indigo Indy lost ground in the home straight.

Indigo Indy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the left fore toe and a left monkey muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Flash Angel was quick to begin.

South East Queen, Clark Road, Kraken Smick and Battered Sav collided soon after the start checking South East Queen, Clark Road and Kraken Smick. South East Queen checked off Kraken Smick on the first turn. Take A Sunflower checked off Flash Angel on the first turn. Kraken Smick and Battered Sav collided entering the home straight checking both greyhounds.

Roger Rocks galloped on the heels of Bingo Boon approaching the home turn, checking Bingo Boon. Baby Eden checked off Lektra Loopy entering the home straight. Bingo Boon checked off Yaala Eclipse entering the home straight.

Mt. View Dodger checked off Blue Yaala approaching the first turn. Mt. View Dodger checked off Alsace on the first turn.
