In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 28 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18 degrees. The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

Galloping Run was quick to begin.  Dewana Lynda and Whispy Watson were slow to begin. 

Dancing Cassie and Whakahoro collided approaching the first turn.  Whispy Watson and Whakahoro collided on the first turn.  Dancing Cassie and Mr. Football collided on the first turn.  Galloping Run and Dancing Cassie collided on the second turn, checking Whakahoro and Mr. Football; severely checking Galloping Run and Dancing Cassie.  Whispy Watson and Dewana Lynda collided on the third turn.  Whakahoro and Mr. Football collided approaching the home turn.  Whispy Watson raced wide on the home turn.

Dewana Whatever and Mow A Meadow were slow to begin. 

Agent Swan and Major Gilbert collided on the first turn causing Major Gilbert to collide with Dewana Whatever, checking Major Gilbert, Dewana Whatever and Quiz Pop.  Aston Ajok and Big Boy Brooke collided in the back straight.  Mow A Meadow checked off Agent Swan on the third turn. 

Galloping Occy - Trainer Mr R. Conway was questioned in relation to the scratching of this greyhound via the heat policy noting that the kennel had another runner engaged today. Mr Conway explained that the greyhound is coming back from a seasonal spell and did not want to push the greyhound over the 595m distance with the hot weather. Mr Conway's explanation was noted.

Bush Martini - Kennel representative Ms L. Courts was questioned in relation to the scratching of this greyhound via the heat policy noting that the kennel had numerous other runners engaged today. Ms Courts explained that the greyhound was affected by the heat yesterday and in the best interest of the greyhound the kennel elected to scratch today. Ms Courts' explanation was noted.  

Shall She Charm was quick to begin.  Spirit Energy was slow to begin. 

Mystify Kick and Spirit Energy collided on the first turn, checking Spirit Energy.  Inga Zach and Yellowtail Bear collided approaching the second turn.  Son Of Indy and Inga Zach collided on the fourth turn.  Inga Zach checked off Shall She Charm approaching the home turn.  Yellowtail Bear and Inga Zach collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight.

Ambitious was quick to begin. 

Cayden Bale, Cypress Bale and Fire Witch collided approaching the first turn.  Rockin' Rosie, Cayden Bale and Fire Witch collided on the first turn, checking all three greyhounds.  Rockin' Rosie checked off Cayden Bale in the back straight; causing Rockin' Rosie to collide with Fire Witch.  Cayden Bale and Fire Witch collided in the home straight. 

Rockin' Rosie underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Party Lights was quick to begin. 

Lot Coin Babe, Konta and Chelsea's Love collided on the first turn, checking Lot Coin Babe, Konta, Chelsea's Love and Halwes.

Dundee Jazz underwent a post-race veterinary examination  - no apparent injury was reported.

As the temperature had significantly changed the hot weather policy was dispensed. 

A pre-race sample was taken from Midnight Force.

Caveman Yap and Mepunga Holly collided on the first turn, checking Mepunga Holly.  Tech Stock and Mepunga Missile collided on the second turn. 

Tech Stock underwent a post-race veterinary examination  - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr J. Nibbs regarding the racing manners of Tech Stock on the turn out of the home straight and the overall performance of the greyhound. After hearing evidence from Mr Nibbs, viewing all the available race footage, acting on their observations and evaluating the greyhound's form, Stewards took no further action. 

Midnight Force underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the trainer's request and was found to a spike wound to the right hind paw. A three day stand down period was imposed.

Mt. View Emma was quick to begin. 

Mt View Emma stumbled soon after the start. My Oh Fernando, Wilshire Girl and Mepunga Royal collided soon after the start, checking Wilshire Girl and Mepunga Royal.  Mt. View Emma faltered on the first turn and lost ground.  Mt. View Emma checked off Zipping Hunter on the third turn and lost ground.  Zipping Hunter and Wilshire Girl collided entering the home straight, checking both greyhounds.  Zipping Hunter and Wilshire Girl collided in the home straight. 

Mt. View Emma underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 11. Mt. View Emma was found to have left fore shin soreness, a right fore carpal sprain and a left triangle injury.  A 21 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr T. Whitford regarding the performance of the greyhound in the event. After hearing evidence from Mr Whitford and the On Track Veterinarian, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations Stewards took no further action. Mr Whitford indicated he would be racing Mt View Emma at Healesville in the near future due to the injuries.   

A post-race sample was taken from Mepunga Royal - the winner of the event.

Pop Rock - Trainer Mr B. Stockdale was questioned in relation to the scratching of this greyhound via the heat policy noting that the kennel had numerous other runners engaged today. Mr Stockdale explained that the greyhound wears a barking muzzle in the kennels and wouldn't be able to do so today, coupled with the greyhound being in race 8 Mr Stockdale elected to scratch the greyhound. Mr Stockdale added that the greyhound had recovered from the injuries sustained at Shepparton on 21 December. Mr Stockdale's explanation was noted.

Zipping Sultan and Mandalorian collided on the first turn.  Lektra Jena, Inga Ollie and Zipping Sultan collided on the first turn, checking Inga Ollie.  Lektra Jena and Zipping Sultan collided approaching the second turn, checking Lektra Jena. Spearhead checked off Fernando Booker approaching the second turn.  Inga Ollie checked off Mandalorian entering the back straight.  Fernando Booker checked off Mandalorian entering the back straight.

Fractured - New declared weight of 34.6kg, last raced at 33.4kg.

Dewana Magoo was slow to begin. 

Fractured and Kalbarri collided soon after the start.  Fractured and Kalbarri collided on the first turn, checking Kalbarri.  Fractured checked off So Hazy approaching the second turn. 

Aston Skylar was quick to begin. 

El Rey Leon and Meet Joe Black collided soon after the start, checking Meet Joe Black.  Destructive Riot and El Rey Leon collided on the first turn.  Lea Arandt and Poppo's Grinning collided in the back straight, checking Lea Arandt which stumbled as a result.  Destructive Riot and El Rey Leon collided on the third turn, checking Destructive Riot.

Lea Arandt underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the left hind paw. A three day stand down period was imposed.

Lawson Drive - Kennel representative Mr P. Riley was questioned in relation to the scratching of this greyhound via the heat policy noting that the kennel had numerous other runners engaged today. Mr Riley explained that the greyhound was a reserve on Thursday at Sandown (24/12/2020) and gained a start in the event. Mr Riley added that the kennel did not wish to race the greyhound today in the heat due to the quick back up.

Pleach was quick to begin. 

Chart Topper and Kenny The Brute collided soon after the start, checking both greyhounds.  Kenny The Brute, Chart Topper and Weblec Bloom collided approaching the first turn, checking Weblec Bloom and Chart Topper. 

Capra, Go Twenty Two, Hazy's Girl, According and Baby Pechey were slow to begin. 

Go Twenty Two , Hazy's Girl and According collided soon after the start, checking all three greyhounds.  Parzival and Inga Mia collided approaching the first turn.  Go Twenty Two and According collided on the first turn, checking Go Twenty Two.  Parzival checked off Inga Mia on the first turn.
