Steward's Report

Zipping Higgins, Aston Stella, Zipping Aubry and Free Gift collided soon after the start; checking Aston Stellla and Zipping Aubry.  Zipping Valerie, Aston Master, Zipping Higgins and Free Gift collided approaching the first turn, checking Zipping Aubry.  Zipping Higgins and Free Gift collided on the home turn.  Ulricken Bale and Night To Burn collided in the home straight.  Night To Burn failed to pursue the lure with due committment and visibly eased in the home straight and collided with Ulricken Bale.

Night To Burn underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left foreleg wrist and monkey muscle injuries.  A seven day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr K Goodwin, the trainer of Night To Burn regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Night To Burn was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.  Mr Goodwin pleaded guilty to the charge, Night To Burn was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Ulricken Bale - the winner of the event.
