Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr B Fothergill, the trainer of Too Far, regarding the scratching of this greyhound from the event. Stewards noted Mr Fothergill's other runner, Murray Nan was afforded an empty box on either side due to the scratching of Maximum Capers (box 6) and Too Far (box 8). Mr Fothergill stated that Too Far was sore in the shoulder after he exercised the greyhound on Sunday. Mr Fothergill added that Too Far had not recovered in time and scratched the greyhound pursuant to the rules. Stewards noted his comments.
A pre-race sample was taken from Murray Nan.
Gaudi Chaudi was slow to begin.
Gaudi Chaudi checked off Cookie Deeds approaching the first turn. Gaudi Chaudi galloped on Cookie Deeds on the first turn, checking both greyhounds.
A post-race sample was taken from Russian Sub - the winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to Mrs H Baxter, the trainer of Gaudi Chaudi, and the Starter regarding the greyhound not being boxed in the correct sequence as directed under the boxing process in Victoria. Stewards reminded Mrs Baxter of her repsonsibilities with this matter. Stewards advised the Starter to be more diligent when the greyhounds are under his orders. This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration and remediation.
