Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8.  Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.

All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore face-masks/covers that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Hard Style Rico – Late scratching at 12.40 when Mr L. Karabitsakos reported the greyhound to have an illness (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

Flossing was quick to begin.  Malayah Bale and Rock Me David were slow to begin and collided on the first turn.  Malayah Bale and Thriving collided on the first turn.  Flossing and Larrakeyah Lady collided on the third turn.  Rock Me Gorgeous and Larrakeyah Lady collided on the home turn.  Rock Me Gorgeous and Thriving collided on the home turn. 

One Babe was slow to begin. 

Rockstar Beav, Tornando Tears and Mister Harlewood collided soon after the start checking Tornando Tears.  Bronski Beat eased approaching the first turn and lost lost significant ground.  Mister Harlewood and Here's Tears collided on the fifth turn.  Rockstar Beav and Here's Tears collided on the home turn.

Bronski Beat underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Stewards spoke to Mr Brendan Pursell, the trainer of Bronski Beat after he declined a re-vet, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Bronski Beat was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Pursell pleaded guilty to the charge, Bronski Beat is suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Mepunga Maggie, Fabriola Zad and Houdini Boy were slow to begin. 

I'm A Krakouer, Hooked On Scotch and Aston Zephyr collided on the first turn.  I'm A Krakourer and Hooked On Scotch collided entering the front straight.  Fabriola Zad and Houdini Boy collided in the front straight.  Perfect Marshall checked off Rockstar Prince on the second turn checking Hooked On Scotch.  Houdini Boy and Fabriola Zad collided on the second turn.  Aston Zephyr faltered on the third turn and lost ground.  Houdini Boy checked off Mepunga Maggie entering the back straight and collided with Hooked On Scotch.  

Aston Zephyr underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right metatarsal fracture.  A 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Providence Bale - Late scratching at 8.22pm on the advice of the On-Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to dehydration and an elevated temperature. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Flinders, Tinsel Doll and Eilish collided soon after the start.  Sticker Stinger and Flinders collided soon after the start.  Speedy Jack checked off Untested on the first turn.  Untested and Sticker Stinger collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Tinsel Doll and Panda Rose collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Flinders crossed out on the second turn and marred Untested for the remainder of the event.

Untested underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the right fore metacarpal.  No stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr Paul Galea, the trainer of Flinders regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the second turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Flinders was charged with marring. Mr Galea pleaded guilty to the charge, Flinders is suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
