Steward's Report

Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8.  Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.

All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Pyrenees Max was quick to begin.  Calabrese Gino was slow to begin.

Calabrese Gino and Pandora's Blue collided soon after the start, checking Calabrese Gino.  Leveni galloped on Pyrenees Max approaching the first turn.  Pyrenees Max, Leveni, Pandora's Blue and Flaunt It Ollie collided on the first turn, checking Pyrenees Max, Leveni and Pandora's Blue.  Will's Bella and Diamond Socks collided on the first turn.  Calabrese Gino baulked at the inside running rail when crossing down on the first turn, raced ungenererously for several strides thereafter and lost ground as a result. Will's Bella and Diamond Socks collided approaching the home turn.  Diamond Socks checked off Flaunt It Ollie on the home turn.  Wacky Waving Man marred Will's Bella on the home turn, checking Diamond Socks, Wacky Waving Man and Will's Bella.

Diamond Socks underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Calabrese Gino underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.  Stewards spoke to Mr L Bicherri, the trainer of Calabrese Gino and issued a warning regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn.

Wacky Waving Man underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.  Stewards spoke to Ms D White, the representative of Wacky Waving Man regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Wacky Waving Man was charged with marring.  Ms White pleaded guilty to the charge, Wacky Waving Man is suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Handlers Ms D Coleman, Mr L Bicherri and Mr C Treherne were all reminded of their responsibilities to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve and prepare their greyhounds for racing.
