Steward's Report
Mill House was a late scratching at 8.32a.m. due to injury (Gar 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. Stewards spoke to the trainer of Mill House (A. Mooney) via telephone regarding the timing of the scratching. Stewards subsequently opened an inquiry into the scratching which will take place at a date to be fixed.
Fiery Fox was slow to begin.
Pop's Max crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Family Interest, Derby Ghost and Hornsey's Mate. Derby Ghost and Hornsey's Mate collided on the first turn checking Hornsey's Mate, Family Interest and Fiery Fox. Special Jim checked off Derby Ghost in the back straight. Hornsey's Mate veered out and marred the running of Special Jim in the back straight. Family Interst and Special Jim raced wide in the home straight. Hornsey's Mate veered in and marred the running of Derby Ghost in the home straight.
Hornsey's Mate was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left thigh and a spike wound to the right hind leg. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. A. Sacco, trainer of the greyhound Hornsey's Mate. Acting under GAR 69(1) Stewards charged Hornsey's Mate with marring and suspended the greyhound for 3 months (all tracks) and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to the GAR(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
