Steward's Report
Stewards noted that the weight of Wild Vane was incorrectly recorded as 38.3kg into the FastTrack system for it's satisfactory trial at Healesville on 26 July 2019. The correct weight was 28.3kg.
York Prince – New declared weight of 36.1kg, last raced at 34.7kg.
Cassandra Barnard was issued with a warning for failing to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve and prepare Wild Vane for racing.
A pre-race sample was taken from Wild Vane.
Modern Icon and Spot On Mick were slow to begin and collided soon after the start. York Prince checked off Dr. Davinci at the 250m mark. Dr. Davinci and Wild Vane collided at the 200m mark. Ray Shoesmith checked off York Prince at the 100m mark. Wild Vane visibly eased at the 50m mark and lost considerable ground.
Wild Vane underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Ms Cassandra Barnard, the trainer of Wild Vane regarding the greyhounds racing manners at the 50m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Wild Vane was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms Barnard pleaded guilty to the charge, Wild Vane is suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
