Steward's Report
Assertive was quick to begin. Measured was slow to begin.
Measured checked off Devel Sixteen soon after the start. Devel Sixteen and Measured collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Any Luck checked off Aston Stealth approaching the first turn. Good Old Pendles and Aston Stealth collided on the first turn checking Aston Stealth, Charming Charlie and Assertive. Aston Stealth galloped on Assertive on the second turn checking Assertive. Measured marred the running of Charming Charlie from the second turn to the home turn severely checking Charming Charlie, both greyhounds tailed off as a result. Assertive and Ride Along collided on the third turn checking Assertive. Devel Sixteen checked off Any Luck approaching the home turn. Assertive and Any Luck collided on the home turn severely checking Any Luck and Devel Sixteen.
Charming Charlie underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist sprain and a right deltoid injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Measured underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hock fracture. A 90 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards noted the incident casuing the hock fracture occurred entring the catching pen.
Stewards spoke to Mr P. Smith, the trainer of Measured regarding the greyhounds racing manners from the second turn to the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Measured was charged with marring. Mr Smith pleaded guilty to the charge, Measured is suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Good Old Pendles - winner of the event.
