Barooga Brett, Weeona Bulldozer and Start A Riot raced wide on the first turn. Weeona Bulldozer checked off Barooga Brett approaching the third turn. Kessler Bale checked off Route Sixty Six approaching the home turn.

A random ballot was conducted between the reserves, Angry Trip and Blue Shadows as they both qualified as the fastest thirds (41:859). The ballot was conducted in the presence of representatives from both kennels. Angry Trip was balloted as first reserve, and Blue Shadows was balloted as the second reserve.
